Painting Anyone?

There are a few easy steps to make a home painting job as pain free as possible. Follow these simple rules to make the job faster.
• Get Your Room Ready - Try to clear out the room as much as possible. If you can’t remove all furniture, move it away from the walls towards the center and cover items with a drop cloth or plastic.
• Prep Time is Saved Time - Try to fill in any holes in the walls with a joint compound and wipe off your woodwork. Use primer on all colored surfaces, to ensure fewer coats in the future.
• Ceilings First - Take care of your ceiling with a flat paint. Do the edges with a brush or edger and move on to a roller for the interior. Allow ample time for drying before going on to the walls or trim.
• Walls Next - Put at least two coats of paint on your walls for optimal coverage. The first coat should be a good base and the second will even out the surface.
• Save the Trim for Last - Don’t forget those windows, molding and doors. The woodwork needs to be tackled last to ensure proper detailing. Use a brush and painter’s tape, if needed, so that your finishing touches complement your décor.

It is important to inspect your garage doors regularly to ensure proper functioning. It is an often overlooked feature of
one’s home, but proper work
ing condition is needed to ensure safety and performance of this important item.
Things to Look Out For
The things to be aware of are the same for belt, chain, and screw-drive systems.
• Check for debris in the tracks. Just wiping them out can relieve possible catches with rollers.
• Use engine oil to lubricate rollers when needed. Try not to use any lubricant that will gum up the system, as this will reduce future usability.
• Use a little oil on bearings, springs, and door hinges to minimize resistance.
• Make sure all cables and springs are connected soundly, and there is no fraying in the cable lines.
• Lightly grease the chain on a chain drive system.
• Test the optical sensors regu- larly to be certain they will detect any possible obstructions. This is an important safety feature and one that should not be overlooked.
• Tighten any loose screws on the door to make certain it is structurally sound.
